A major traffic collision involving three to four vehicles occurred around 3:15 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 101 and La Franchi Road, causing significant traffic delays in both directions.

The Incident Commander requested a Code 3 ambulance respond to the scene indicating an urgent need for medical care.

The southbound lanes are currently blocked by three vehicles, leading to a complete shutdown of the southbound lane. Traffic is heavily impacted and backed up in both the northbound and southbound directions.

Emergency responders are on the scene, working to clear the vehicles and manage the traffic flow. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and expect delays.

  1. We drive that stretch of road last obeying all speed limit and let me tell you the idiots tailgating us, speeding past us once over the green bridge was incredible. Same thing on the north side of Hopland. I’m doing the limit maybe a little more, these a-holes are going 80+ and riding your bumper waving hands roaring engines. My God!! Why?????? Prayers to this affected, scary and sad.

  2. If Caltrans could build a by-pass to eliminate the two lanes they would. But after what took place in Willits they are hesitant to say the least.

  3. There’s always at least one or two CHP lurking around hopland. I’ve seen more than one reckless driver get their comeuppance between Cloverdale and ukiah. Accidents like this remind me to be grateful for those officers. They find a lot of duis in that area, usually migrant workers getting blitzed on meth and beer and driving without regard for anyone.

  4. This road should be closed off to left turners coming from the south. Just too dangerous to back up traffic here. I’m betting that is what happened, someone was stopped to turn left & was rear-ended into oncoming traffic.
