The Spy Fire, as seen from an AlertCalifornia Fire Camera

A vegetation fire, dubbed the Spy Fire, ignited around 8:23 p.m. this evening, October 2, 2024, drawing a swift response from local firefighting resources. The blaze was reported in the 8100 block of Spyrock Road, with smoke and a glow visible in the surrounding area.

Fire crews are currently staging on Spyrock Road as resources converge on the fire, which is said to be in the area of Registered Guest Road, north of Willsow Road and west of Spyrock Road.

The size of the fire and potential for spread are still under evaluation, though the rugged terrain could complicate firefighting efforts.

UPDATE 9:36 p.m.: Firefighters on scene are reporting the incident is in the area of Crestview Road and Middle Road, described as approximately 3 miles in. The fire is reportedly one-acre in size burning at a slow rate of spread.

UPDATE 9:53 p.m.: Reports from the scene indicate that multiple resources are being canceled and that no structures are being threatened as a result of the fire.
