The California Highway Patrol activated a Feather Alert Thursday evening at the request of the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, following the disappearance of 17-year-old Fire Fox Littlelake from Covelo.

Authorities reported that Littlelake was last seen at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in Covelo. He is believed to be traveling in a 2022 silver Chevrolet Silverado with California license plate 21687N3.

Littlelake is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing black skinny jeans, a black hoodie, and black high-top shoes.

The Feather Alert system, introduced in 2022, is California’s version of the nationwide Amber Alert but is specifically designed to assist in cases involving missing Indigenous people. It allows law enforcement to quickly disseminate information to the public when a person is believed to be in danger, particularly in cases where foul play is suspected.

Anyone with information regarding Fire Fox Littlelake’s whereabouts is urged to contact local law enforcement immediately.

UPDATE 8:06 p.m.:Scanner traffic indicates Mendocino County law enforcement has confirmed that the missing teen was located.

The Statewide Feather alert is still active as per California Highway Patrol’s ‘s X account and the CHP Traffic Incident Information page. But, Feather Alerts are issued out of CHP’s Sacramento Office and there is likely delay in updating the public information about the case.

UPDATE 8:31 p.m.: The California Highway Patrol has officially deactivated the Feather Alert, according to the agency’s X account. The agency confirms scanner traffic heard earlier that the missing teen was located.
