Dear Voter,

This year, we have a crucial opportunity to make a real difference at the ballot box. Jim Gagnon, from Comptche, is running against incumbent Michael Schaeffer for a seat on the Mendocino Unified School District Board. Gagnon’s recent and relevant experience with the district brings a fresh perspective to a stagnant situation.

Highly regarded in Comptche, Gagnon is expected to win strong support from local voters. It’s time the rest of the district understands why he is the right choice. He is well-informed on the issues facing our schools—ranging from infrastructure challenges and budgetary concerns to the lack of communication and community engagement from the current board. Gagnon plans to put an end to the “policy of no response” that his opponent has made infamous.

He also intends to use the board seat to advocate for our rural district in Sacramento, something sorely needed. Schaeffer’s track record on supporting special education services is abysmal, and it’s time to thank him for his service—and vote him out.

This is a rare opportunity—one that only comes along once in 22 years—to bring positive change to our schools. Please consider voting for Jim Gagnon and making a real impact.

Sincerely,
Kylie Felicich
