A former lead nurse at the Low Gap Adult Jail Facility pleaded no contest Friday to a series of sex-related felonies and firearm offenses, concluding a shocking investigation into his crimes.

Blake Dylan Bradley Cox, 28, originally from Indiana and now of Ukiah, was convicted of eight felony sex crimes and one misdemeanor in one case, alongside two felony firearm charges in a separate case, according to a press release from the Mendocino County District Attorney’s Office.

The investigation began with a misdemeanor domestic battery allegation but quickly escalated when the Ukiah Police Department discovered Cox possessed 11 illegal assault weapons and 27 other firearms. A forensic review of his cell phone revealed evidence of an elaborate online catfishing scheme and other heinous crimes.

Cox used a fake persona named “Jessica,” employing photos of naked women to lure male victims into believing they were forming an online relationship. Posing as “Jessica,” Cox arranged for his victims to meet him, claiming to be Jessica’s male friend, and filmed the encounters, which often involved sex acts in a vehicle. The victims were promised future rewards from “Jessica,” but the persona vanished once Cox got what he wanted.

The investigation uncovered further disturbing evidence, including illegal child pornography and hidden camera footage of an underage relative undressing.

Law enforcement agencies credited with the case include the Ukiah Police Department, the DA’s Bureau of Investigations, and the California Attorney General’s Office, which acted to suspend Cox’s nursing license in May.

Mendocino County Superior Court Judge Keith Faulder accepted Cox’s no contest pleas, with District Attorney David Eyster prosecuting.

Cox now awaits sentencing, bringing closure to a case that shocked the community and exposed the depths of his deception.

Huh?? So the dudes were gay anyway. Sounds to me they got what they deserved for being perverted and mentally ill.

  2. The takeaway here is that Eyster will let you get away with this stuff if you’re a UPD cop named Kevin.
Matt, have you actually talked with Eyster? How do you kerp a straight face?

  3. Whatever local people are saying, I am glad they caught this POS and have him locked up. So thankful someone came forward with domestic abuse charges and law enforcement listened and investigated. But please don’t give him early release. He needs to stay locked up the rest of his life.

  4. Why is it you can show his booking log photo, but they don’t show any on the Mendo Sheriff site? Genuinely curious because cases like these definitely warrant the use of photos so the public knows who is living in their community. Thanks for posting?

    • I would assume it’s because at this point he’s actually been tried and found guilty. Whereas the people on the booking logs have only been arrested so they are innocent until proven guilty.

  5. Hastily written article. And probably a salacious misleading headline to boot. The fourth paragraph doesn’t even make sense. Was the convict catfishing gay men by posing as a woman? Of course that’s a morally and sexually bankrupt enterprise, but is it really a crime now?

What exact crimes was cox convicted of? I see a few Firearms that might be legal in Indiana and illegal in CA. Specifics, please? Did he commit any of these crimes while on duty as a nurse? How many of his crimes were against minors?

The child porn allegations are concerning, but from this article we don’t even know if he was convicted of that stuff.

I say good riddance to MendoFever. It’s been a sloppy news operation from the get-go, trailing on the coat tails of mendo sports plus and the mighty AVA. But now mendofever has jumped the shark.

I mostly feel sorry for the people that donated money to this “local news” website. Nobody would be surprised if mendofever was exposed as an unsophisticated money laundering operation.

Matt is better off in San Francisco anyway. It’s a lot easier to pretend your a cowboy journalist down there.

    • Matt LaFever is a teacher at a local school, maybe he is too busy to be a full-time journalist, but it doesn’t mean MendoFever is bad, you’re just a hater.

  6. Is it a catfishing scheme! Really? Just maybe, he IDENTIFIES as “Jessica”. He is catfishing men as “Jessica” and those same men are meeting him as Jessica’s “Friend” and those men are having sexual encounters with a man. I don’t see how any of those men are victims at all. they are just stupid men on hookup apps for sex with anyone. the only true victims are any minors and the crime of the 11 illegal assault rifles.
