Keep moving but know your limits. The worst back country hikes I ever lead was parents who did not know their abilities. Did not attend training, did not do pre hikes, ignored and or hid their medical conditions. As I got older I learned the big week-long hikes were best handled by younger, on the ball participants. Getting someone out of the wilderness can turn into a nightmare for all.
