Deep Valley Arts is proud to present a special screening of Sisters with Transistors on February 28th at MEDIUM Art Gallery, located at 518 E. Perkins St., Ukiah. The event will be followed by a live performance by renowned electronic musician Blevin Blectum. More than just a film screening, this evening doubles as a birthday fundraiser for the gallery, celebrating both the legacy of electronic music pioneers and the creative future of Deep Valley Arts. The night also marks the birthday of Deep Valley Arts co-founder Chris Pugh, making this a special occasion of art, music, and community support.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m., with $20 entry at the door supporting the gallery’s mission to foster experimental and boundary-pushing artistic expression. Beer, wine, and light refreshments will be available for guests to enjoy.

Sisters with Transistors tells the remarkable story of the female pioneers of electronic music—visionary artists who redefined the boundaries of sound and technology. The film, directed by Lisa Rovner and narrated by legendary composer Laurie Anderson, traces the groundbreaking contributions of musicians such as Delia Derbyshire, Daphne Oram, and Suzanne Ciani, who shaped the evolution of modern electronic music despite working in a male-dominated industry.

Following the screening, attendees will experience a live performance by Blevin Blectum, an American electronic musician and multimedia composer celebrated as an “icon of deviant and cerebral electronic music.” Also known as Bevin Kelley, Blectum has been a pioneering force in the U.S. electronic avant-garde since the 1990s, crafting immersive sonic landscapes that push the limits of genre and experimentation. Her performance at MEDIUM Art Gallery promises to be a fitting tribute to the women featured in Sisters with Transistors, as well as a powerful showcase of forward-thinking electronic composition.

This event is also a birthday fundraiser for Deep Valley Arts co-founder Chris Pugh, celebrating his contributions to the arts community and the ongoing mission of Deep Valley Arts. All proceeds from ticket sales will go directly toward supporting future exhibitions, workshops, and performances at MEDIUM Art Gallery, ensuring that Deep Valley Arts continues to provide a dynamic and inclusive space for artists and the community.
