The Health Officer of Mendocino County has released a new order mandating personnel with patient contact working in healthcare delivery facilities to be masked and employers and operators of healthcare delivery facilities to develop and implement policies strongly recommending seasonal Influenza and Covid-19 vaccinations to their employees.
Vaccinations are the safest and most effective way to prevent severe infection, hospitalization, and death from these viruses. These are strongly recommended for everyone from 6 months and older. High quality and well-fitting masks for employees helps prevent staff from spreading Covid, Influenza, RSV and many other infections to each other and to their patients. This will help preserve the capacity of our health care delivery facilities during the “flu season”.
This order will become effective on November 24 and extend to April 30 of this year and in future years will extend from October 1 through April 30 and continue until rescinded. The order is posted on the Public Health website: https://www.mendocinocounty.org/departments/public-health
No. No. No. Mask if you want but mandates are not laws. Masks don’t work. They never did and there is plenty of data to prove that. Anyone just has to look past the first page or two on a search engine.

Shouldn’t this read, “of this flu season” or “April 30, 2024”?
Sadly, neither the mask mandate, nor the vaccine mandates did much for stopping the spread of the virus. Even Pfizer admits that the vaccine was not intended to stop infections. The best it can do is perhaps diminish the severity of symptoms. Besides, the pandemic is over and variants are not as dangerous. So why the renewed concern? Politics, business, PR or sound public policy?
My skeptical side is that this is more to do with narrative management, fearmongering, and sales of (largely ineffective) vaccine/boosters. Big Pharma made a killing on this (Moderna, Pfizer), nothing personal, strictly business. The CEO of Moderna, for example, (Stephane Bancel) is now a billionaire. Nice eh? Let’s not be naive about US “healthcare”.
Rational risk assessment: over 40,000 people are killed on the roads and 10s of thousands seriously injured every year. That’s with all the improved air bags and safety in vehicles as well. Yet very few people want to talk about that.
Why? This is a ridiculous abuse of power by petty bureaucrats.
The order applies to people who work in a health care setting who must also get the jab again. Or lose their jobs which would be great, because we have too many healthcare workers, right? The order should be contested if only because it may result in less, not more, public health.
The CA law cited by Mr. Coren, still our PHO for some reason, says “(the PHO) shall take measures as may be necessary to prevent the spread of the disease or occurrence of additional cases.” He is reading this to mean he can do whatever he wants, and we have to just take it, so to speak. As the courts would say, this is an expansive interpretation of the law.
Those who believe and use the scientific method in their own lives know there is now a preponderance of evidence that masks do not prevent the spread of viral infections. Never have, never will.
And they will read with interest about new studies on how “effective” the covid vaccine has been. Hint: It’s in negative territory.
On the other hand, those who follow Big Science will continue to ignore such things.

A New York state Supreme Court ordered all New York City employees who were fired for not being vaccinated to be reinstated with back pay. The court found Monday that “being vaccinated does not prevent an individual from contracting or transmitting COVID-19.”
Masks are not doing much either. To say nothing of the large post-vaccination excess mortality now showing up in numerous countries, including the US. This all may well turn around and bite back with some big class-action lawsuits.
Can we all at least agree that people who work with fine particulate matter such as wood dust, paint, chemical dust benefit from masks? Saying masks do nothing is the same as saying they solve everything. Neither is true. They’ve got us right where they want us fighting over bullshit.
Containing the flu variants is an improbable task. Especially when the Covid was the creation of a synthetic virus. The “cure”? A synthetic vaxxcine. Very profitable. Lots of government public health insiders. What’s next for the bio-criminals? A vaxxcine that behaves like a virus, inoculating everyone against the latest synthetic. Passed around like a common cold till every person is “jabbed”. Dissemination center? Public transportation, concert halls, sports stadiums,. Reminds me of that old black and white movie I saw as a child. Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
