This is a statement the Mendocino County Soccer Academy released on their Facebook page yesterday:
ALL ON-FIELD ACTIVITIES ARE SUSPENDED EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.
WE’RE ALL VERY DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE WE KNOW HOW MUCH KIDS, FAMILIES, AND STAFF HAVE GOTTEN FROM SOCCER OVER THE LAST MONTH. EVERYONE HAS DONE A FANTASTIC JOB WITH OUR SAFETY PROTOCOLS, AND WE’VE SUCCESSFULLY OPERATED WITHIN THE COUNTY’S 12-PERSON STABLE BUBBLES FOR OUR ON-FIELD ACTIVITIES.
HOWEVER, WITH THE CURRENT UPTICK IN COVID CASES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY, WE FEEL THE MOST RESPONSIBLE THING TO DO IS TO SHUT DOWN OUR ACTIVITIES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
AS WE’VE COMMUNICATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, WE KNEW THAT SHUTTING DOWN EARLY WAS A POSSIBILITY. AND, UNFORTUNATELY, THE TIME HAS COME.
AS SOON AS WE HAVE A GO-AHEAD IN THE COMING MONTHS TO RETURN, YOU KNOW WE WILL BE BACK STRONGER THAN EVER. IN THE MEANTIME, WE’RE ALL GOING TO NEED TO WEAR MASKS, SOCIAL DISTANCE, AND WORK TOGETHER TO HELP FLATTEN THE CURVE.
WE’RE DEVELOPING A FUN, ENGAGING VIRTUAL TRAINING PROGRAM AS WE SPEAK. WE EXPECT IT TO BE READY SOON AND YOU WILL BE THE FIRST TO KNOW.
ON BEHALF OF MCSA, THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS FOR BEING A PART OF OUR EAGLES FAMILY. THIS TIME WILL PASS. AND WE’LL ALL BE BACK ON A FIELD TOGETHER SOON.
IN THE MEANTIME, STAY SAFE AND SEND OUR LOVE TO ALL THE KIDS.
