[UPDATE: A NEW DEATH] Mendocino County COVID-19 Deaths Now Total 9

Whenever Mendocino County Public Health publishes a new COVID-19 infographic, MendoFever will compare and contrast the data with the previous infographic in hopes to shed light on trends associated with the COVID-19 pandemic in Mendocino County.

The following statement accompanied tonight’s updated dashboard:

6 additional cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Mendocino County, bringing the total to 299. 2 additional deaths of residents from the Sherwood Oaks outbreak. Please see the dashboard for available demographics

?Most significant information gained from this evening’s infographic update provided by Mendocino County Public Health:
?The dashboard reflects the two most recent deaths of patients at Fort Bragg’s Sherwood Oaks skilled nursing facility and still needs to be update for this evening’s 3rd death. Seven of the county’s deaths originate from the Sherwood Oaks outbreak, one death is from a patient at Willits’s Howard Memorial Hospital, and one death is from a resident who contracted the virus at a Mendocino County church and passed in a Marin County rehabilitation center.


?Analysis of that data represented in today’s infographic with yesterday’s:

??????Demographics: Cases amongst the Hispanic/Latino Community increased by three going from 175 to 178, cases amongst the white community increased by two going from 45 to 47, and one of the new cases is amongst the American Indian/Alaskan native community growing from 18 to 19. Hispanic/Latino Community still makes up 59.5% of Mendocino County’s cases.
??Age Ranges: Two of the new cases are between the ages of “19-34”, three of the new cases are from the ages of “50-64”, and one of the new cases is from the “65+” age range.
?? Gender of Infected: 143 of the infected are men 156 are women.
?Source of Infection: The “close contact” category has increased by five growing from 124 to 129. The “work/out of county travel” category has increased by 2 growing from 20 to 22.The number of cases under investigation have dropped by one moving from 111 to 110..
?Region of Cases: Two of today’s cases originate in the “Ukiah Valley”, two originate in “North County”, and two originate on the “North Coast.”
????Status of Patients: The number of Mendocino County residents in isolation by one from 59 to 58. The number of patients in the hospital increased by two for a new total of 7. There are no patients in the intensive care unit. There is a total of 299 cases. There are a total of 66 active COVID-19 cases.
?Testing: Comparing and contrasting testing numbers suggests out of the six cases confirmed today, four of the cases were discovered in Public Health labs and two were discovered in the UCSF labs. The amount of tests pending decreased to by four to 2276.

UPDATE: After posting its evening update, Mendocino County Public Health updated the post with news of another death at Sherwood Oaks Health Center:

Edited Update: The County was notified at 6:45pm of an additional death at Sherwood Oaks. Bringing the new total of deaths to 9. The dashboard will be revised tomorrow to reflect the new death.
