Mendocino County ‘Community Spread’ of COVID-19 Increases by 22% in last Five Days

Whenever Mendocino County Public Health publishes a new COVID-19 infographic, MendoFever will compare and contrast the data with the previous infographic in hopes to shed light on trends associated with the COVID-19 pandemic in Mendocino County.

The following statement was released along with today’s updated Mendocino County COVID-19 dashboard:

COVID-19 Daily Update – 8/14/2020
16 additional cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Mendocino County, bringing the total to 529.

?Most significant information gained from this evening’s infographic update provided by Mendocino County Public Health:
?The total number of positive COVID-19 cases have increased 18% over the last five calendar days.
?The percentage of cases associated with community spread has increased by 22% over the last five calendar days.

Analysis of that data represented in today’s infographic with yesterday’s:

??????Demographics: Cases amongst the Hispanic/Latino Community increased by four going from 318 to 322, cases amongst the American Indian/Alaskan Native community increased by five moving from 22 to 27, and seven of today’s new cases are from an “unreported” demographic.
??Age Ranges: One of the new cases is between the ages of “0-5”, one of the new cases is from the ages of “13-18”, seven of the new cases are from the “19-34” age range, six of the new cases are from the “35-49” age range, and one of the new cases is from the “56-64” age range.
?? Gender of Infected: 231 of the infected are men(44%) 298 are women(56%).
?Source of Infection: All 16 of today’s cases are “under investigation”.
?Region of Cases: 11 of today’s cases originate in the “Ukiah Valley”, 5 of the cases originate in the “North County”and one case originates on the “North Coast.”
????Status of Patients: The number of Mendocino County residents in isolation decreased from 119 to 108. The number of patients in the hospital dropped from 9 to 6. There are four patients in the intensive care unit. There has been a total of 529 individuals in Mendocino County who have tested positive for COVID-19. There are a total of 118 known active COVID-19 cases. The total number of positive COVID-19 cases have increased 18% over the last five calendar days.
?Testing: Comparing and contrasting testing numbers shows three of today’s cases were discovered in Public Health Laboratories, ten of today’s cases were discovered in Commercial Laboratories, and three of today’s cases were discovered at UCSF.
