At approximately 4:00 p.m., a robbery took place on a cannabis farm north of Laytonville near Highway 101 and the Black Oak Ranch, according to Mendocino County Sheriff Matt Kendall.
Jim Tuso, former Mendocino County Sheriff, posted on Facebook, “Pray for our MCSO Deputies who are in an Armed Standoff north of Laytonville! Medical and Fire have been staged.”
Some law enforcement and an ambulance are reported to be staging at Camp Winnarainbow’s driveway.
Scanner reports described four black male adults and one unknown were suspects. Two were reported to be armed with AR-15 rifles. At approximately, 6:40 p.m. scanner traffic indicates that three suspects were detained.
Multiple readers reporting seeing the MCSO Bearcat (armored vehicle) headed to the scene.

MCSO’s Captain Greg Van Patton told us the SWAT team has been deployed and five armed suspects are believed to still be in the area. Captain Van Patten asks the public to avoid travel in the area of 50000 Block of North Highway 101 in Laytonville.
Captain Van Patten described the suspects as four black male adults and one unknown race armed with rifles and are reported to be driving a van, possibly a Honda silver in color.
Regarding previous reporting that said three individuals were detained, Captain Van Patten said, “3 people were detained but unknown if connected to the incident.”
