The following press release was issued by the City of Ukiah:
As part of the Downtown Streetscape Project, Wahlund Construction will be completing the underground connections to the new water main in the next week. On Sunday, December 13th, in order to minimize impacts to residential and commercial customers who will temporarily be without water, it is necessary for some of this work to be performed at night.
Work near the intersection of Mill and State will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sunday evening. Work is expected to take approximately four hours, but could extend beyond that time due to unforeseen issues.
Every effort is being made to minimize impacts to businesses and residents, and we apologize for any inconvenience this causes. Also, please note that this work is weather-dependent. Given the current forecast, we are expecting that the project will proceed as planned; however, if it is raining heavily on Sunday, the work will be rescheduled. No other night work related to the project is planned.
This work nearly completes the replacement of all of the 50-100-year-old underground water and sewer infrastructure between Henry and Mill Streets. Every building in the project area now has brand new laterals, and the final connections to the main line are being made next week.
