The following is a press released from the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On Friday, January 15, 2021 at approximately 5:50 am, the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious vehicle following a female as she walked down the street in Douglas City. The caller reported the van followed her to her residence and parked across the street.
Deputies responded to the area and conducted a traffic stop as the van left the Douglas City area and drove eastbound on SR 299. The driver of the van was identified as David Vanbuskirk, of Redding, CA. The van was found to be owned by the Good News Rescue Mission and through further investigation was found to have been stolen earlier in the night.
David Vanbuskirk was arrested and transported to the Trinity County Jail where he was booked on the below listed charges.

- 496(a)PC – Possession of Stolen Property
- 14601.1(a)VC – Driving with Suspended/Revoked License
- 11364HS – Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Clearly intended to do something further, rob the women or whatever else he was thinking. Good move on the lady’s part to notice the van. Sounds like a good day to be carrying Pepper spray.
