Napa Valley Business Owner Possessed Five Pipe Bombs, Over 50 Guns, and 15,000 Rounds of Ammo

The following is a statement issued on the Napa County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty::

On Friday, January 15th, 2021, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested 44-year-old Ian Benjamin Rogers for possession of illegal assault rifles, automatic weapons and explosives. Mr. Rogers was booked at the Napa County Department of Corrections and is being held on $5 million bail. Ian Rogers is a Napa resident and owns a business on the 1600 Block of Action Avenue.

The Sheriff’s Office obtained search warrants for Mr. Rogers home and business after receiving a tip that he possessed several illegal guns. During the searches at the home and business, investigators found more than 50 guns (several unregistered and/or illegal), more than 15 thousand rounds of ammunition, and several pounds of gun powder.

The Napa County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad located 5 pipe bombs inside a safe at Mr. Rogers business. All 5 pipe bombs were rendered safe by the NSO Bomb Squad.

Mr. Rogers was contacted and detained Friday morning by NSO Deputies and interviewed by Napa Sheriff’s Detectives. Eventually, Mr. Rogers was arrested and booked at approximately 3:00 PM, Friday afternoon.

Ian Rogers is facing 5 felonies, 1 misdemeanor: 12085HS : misdemeanor, 18710PC : felony, 18720PC : felony, 30605(a)PC : felony, 30600(a)PC : felony, 32625(a)PC : felony, 32625(b)PC : felony. Due to the nature of the charges, Napa Sheriff’ Detectives are sharing the evidence with federal and state authorities.
