The following is a statement issued on the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On 01-15-2021 at about 1:28 AM Mendocino County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to contact a reporting person who wanted to report a domestic violence incident that occurred a few days earlier to an adult female (18 years-old).
Deputies contacted the reporting person who advised the adult female had visible injuries to her face. The reporting person reported the adult female’s injuries were caused by her cohabitant boyfriend.
Deputies responded to the adult female’s residence and conducted a domestic violence investigation.
Upon contact the Deputies learned she was assaulted by her cohabitant boyfriend, Romeo Lopez, during an argument that occurred approximately a week earlier.
Deputies learned that during the argument, Lopez punched the adult female in the face causing an injury to her face. Deputies observed bruising on the adult female’s face.
Lopez was present at the residence and was arrested for domestic violence battery (273.5 PC).
Lopez was booked into the Mendocino County Jail where he was to be held in lieu of $25,000.00 bail.
