State Route 175 Between Mendocino and Lake County Closed Unless Equipped with Chains or 4WD

As per scanner traffic, Highway 175 between Mendocino County and Lake County is closing as snow is covering the upper portions of the Mayacama Mountains. Several vehicles are stuck including a Caltrans vehicle.

Transit is only allowed to vehicles with chains for four-wheel drive.

UPDATE 5:04 p.m.

The following update was provided on the California Highway Patrol-Clearlake Facebook page:

Looks like it’s going to be a cold one on SR-175 Cobb tonight. Chain control is in effect, so plan your route accordingly. If you must travel, pack extra supplies such as warm blankets, food, water and any medications you may need. Charge your cell phone before you leave and make sure you have plenty of gas. Expect delays and detours. Slow down and take extra care when driving. Expect other closures throughout tonight and the next few days.
