On 2/5/2021, at approximately 0650 hours, Vehicle #1 (V-1, 2006 Toyota) was traveling westbound SR-20, just west of Marina Drive at an unknown speed. Vehicle #2A (V-2A, 2014 Peterbilt) was pulling Vehicle #2B (V-2B, 2018 Landoll) eastbound on SR-20, just west of Marina Drive at a stated speed of 55 MPH. For an unknown reason, V-1 traveled in a southwesterly direction over the solid double yellow lines where the left front of V-1 collided with the left side of V-2A. After the collision, V-1 continued in a westerly direction where the left front of V-1 collided with the left side of V-2B. After the collision, V-1 continued traveling in a westerly direction while side swiping the left side of V-2B. After the collisions, V-1 continued, out of control, in a southerly direction over the south solid white line of SR-20 and down the descending hillside, south of SR-20. V-1 came to rest on the south descending hillside of SR-20. The driver of V-1 sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision. The cause of this collision is still under investigation. Alcohol and/or drugs is not believed to be a factor in this collision.
