Local Social Justice Group Honoring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women with Mural Featuring Round Valley’s Khadijah Britton

The Ukiah Valley Youth Leadership Coalition is working on a Social Justice Mural project in Ukiah. The theme of the mural is MMIW/MMIP (Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women/Persons), the mural is to raise awareness about social justice issues that impact our community. We are working closely with Connie Hostler, the mother of Khadijah Britton, who is from The Round Valley Indian Tribes. The image of Khadijah Britton’s likeness will be used in the mural to honor her and raise awareness about MMIW/MMIP in our community. Khadijah Britton has been missing since February 7th, 2018. This is a youth-led project, and the youth coalition members are passionate about this topic. The Ukiah Valley Youth Leadership Coalition has partnered with Hope Through Art Foundation to help create the mural. The projected dates are May 5th, 2021 for the opening dedication ceremony and May 6th-11th, 2021 for the project. We have dedicated specific days for the family & friends of Khadijah, local tribal communities, and indigenous people and community as a whole to be a part of painting the mural.

?We are inviting our community to help make this project happen. Can you help with donations to support our project? We are working to get donations of food and lodging for May 6th-11th, 2021 for The Hope Through Art Foundation members who are traveling from out of town. We are looking for meals for four adults and lodging to accommodate four adults (either three rooms or an Airbnb with 3/4 rooms) for six days. We can accept specific donations of food and lodging or monetary donations that will go towards funding. You will receive recognition for your donation and support for this project (or your donation can be anonymous). We can provide you with a donation receipt for tax purposes upon request.
