Categories:

The following is a press released issued by the Ukiah Police Department. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Isaac Gonzales [Mugshot from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Booking Logs]

On 5/9/21 at approximately 0155 hours, a UPD officer observed a vehicle traveling in  front of him in the 600 block of S. Orchard Ave. The officer observed the vehicle did not  have a license plate lamp as required by the California Vehicle Code. The officer  activated his patrol vehicles overhead emergency lights and initiated a traffic  enforcement stop. The driver of the vehicle yielded in the parking lot of the Super 8  Motel.

The officer contacted the driver (Isaac Gonzales) as he sat in the driver’s seat of the  vehicle. Gonzales advised the officer his driver’s license was suspended. The officer  provided Gonzales’ identifying information to UPD Dispatch and UPD Dispatch  confirmed Gonzales’ driver’s license was in fact suspended.

A second UPD officer arrived at the location to assist with the traffic stop. The officers  asked Gonzales to step out of the vehicle. Gonzales refused to step out of the vehicle and  began reaching his hands towards the waistband of his pants. The officers reached into  the vehicle and took control of Gonzales’ wrists. Gonzales exited the vehicle and  attempted to break free from the officer’s grasp. A struggle ensued and Gonzales was taken to the ground by the officers. The Officers noted that Gonzales repeatedly reached  for the waistband of his pants and continued to resist throughout the altercation. As the  officer’s fought with Gonzales a loaded Springfield XD 9mm pistol fell out of the  waistband of Gonzales’ pants and onto the ground.

Two more UPD officers arrived a short time later and Gonzales was taken into custody.  A search incident to arrest found Gonzales to be in possession of 16.6 ounces of  methamphetamine and $2,200.00.

A record check revealed Gonzales was a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm.
