On the morning of 05/15/21, at approximately 0916 hours, UPD Officers responded to a report  of a man down in the parking lot of the Royal Motel. On arrival the first Officer on scene  located an adult male lying in the parking, displaying symptoms of insufficient breathing, to  include labored, shallow breaths and bluish coloring. Bystanders in the area indicated the  subject had earlier ingested a combination of alcohol and other illicit drugs.

The Officer deployed a department issued AED defibrillator device, which indicated that CPR  needed to be initiated. The Officer began a series of chest compressions until medical assistance  arrived.

Staff from Ukiah Valley Fire Authority and Medstar Ambulance arrived on scene and began  assisting the subject. The subject was successfully revived and ultimately transported to the  local hospital.
