Public Works Crews responded quickly to a sewer pump station alarm on W. Elm Street early Wednesday morning. It was determined a complex and prompt repair is necessary for the lift station to operate properly. An above ground sewer flow diversion is in the works and is proposed to run through the alley west of West Street and down the middle of W. Fir Street to the nearest sewer manhole intake located at the southwest corner of Main Street and Fir Street.
No road closures are anticipated; however, detours are required to protect the live sewer line route. This sewer diversion and pump station repair is expected to run throughout the day and into Friday. Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible, be mindful of the above ground live sewer line and follow proper detours.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the patience of all residents and others driving along the vicinity. We would like to remind drivers to drive cautiously in the work zones, use alternate roadways, or avoid the area if possible. Thank you for your patience during this difficult situation.
We hope to restore normal access to the area as soon as possible and will continue to provide new information as it arises.
