Scanner traffic indicates that at approximately 7:30 p.m. reports began to emerge of a vegetation fire burning near the intersection of Lake Street and Dam Road in Clearlake. A full wildland fire response was dispatched to the Lake Incident
The Incident Commander described the blaze as 4-5 acres at this time with one structure under minor threat. He said, as of now, no other structures were involved or threatened. The fire’s potential was 10-15 acres, as per the Incident Commander.
Overhead power lines were reported to be on fire, and law enforcement was requested to start evacuating Dam Road to Lake Street, including a nearby homeless encampment.
UPDATE 7:57 p.m.: The Incident Commander confirmed the Lake Incident is now at 5 acres.
The following Nixle Alert was issued by the Clearlake Police Department:
AVOID the area of Dam Rd/ Lake St due to fire in the area. Fire is located at the end of Dam Rd closer to Second ave. Please avoid the area.
UPDATE 8:03 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported the fire is holding at five acres and there are no spots associated with the fire.
UPDATE 8:20 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported fire is “looking real good.” Multiple air resources were released from the incident. The IC said he would have one helicopter and two tankers remain above.
UPDATE 8:40 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported the fire is officially contained at 5 acres.
