Scanner traffic beginning at approximately 5:21 p.m. indicated Dino Michael Blackbear, the 34-year-old suspect of a recent Covelo homicide, had been spotted in the 20100 block of Hanson Road in Fort Bragg. Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Bragg Police Department, Fish and Game, and California State Parks officers are converging on the area in an attempt to apprehend the suspect.
The following Nixle Alert was issued regarding the law enforcement activity in the area:
THE [Mendocino]COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE IS CONDUCTING POLICE ACTIVITY IN THE AREA OF 20110 HANSON RD FORT BRAGG. SHELTER IN PLACE AND AWAIT FURTHER INSTRUCTION. DO NOT CALL 9 1 1 UNLESS YOUR SAFETY OR THE SAFETY OF OTHERS IS AT RISK. POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR SUSPECT THAT FLED ON FOOT IN THE AREA. SUSPECT IS DINO BLACKBEAR LINCOLN NATIVE AMERICAN MALE ADULT 34 YEARS OF AGE. APPROXIMATELY 6 FEET IN HEIGHT WEIGHING 225 LBS. LONG BLACK [Hair] IN PONY TAIL AND BROWN EYES.. PLEASE REPORT ANY [SUSPICIOUS] PERSONS IN THE AREA. THANK YOU.
The dispatcher told responding officers that the reporting party described Blackbear as wearing only an all-white blanket that seemed to be soaking wet.
Law enforcement has been in Fort Bragg searching for Blackbear since yesterday evening after law enforcement pursued a vehicle that he foot bailed from onto the 31000 block of Chestnut Street in Fort Bragg. A shelter-in-place order was sent to nearby residents as deputies combed the area looking for Blackbear.
Both Dino Michael Blackbear and Carina Amanda Carrillo have been sought by MCSO since Wednesday night after a homicide that occurred outside of a Covelo bar late on September 15, 2021. That evening an unidentified male was shot in the neck outside of the Buckhorn Bar and later died. The pair reportedly left the scene together and law enforcement has been searching since.
Dino Michael Blackbear (AKA Lincoln) is reportedly 6?, 220 pounds, and has black hair, and brown eyes. He was seen last night wearing a gray shirt with no hat nor shoes.
Blackbear has been referred to as “armed and dangerous.” Residents are encouraged to stay safe and vigilant. If he is spotted, please, get to a safe location and contact 911.
UPDATE: Scanner traffic at 6:17 p.m. indicates law enforcement has successfully apprehended Dino Michael Blackbear and he is now in custody. Medical resources are responding to perform a medical evaluation on the suspect.
