Horrific Crash in Lake County Leaves Two Dead, Two with Major Injuries, and Highway 29 Northbound Shut Down

Scanner traffic and a since removed log entry from the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page indicates a wrong-way driver collided with a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 29 and Hill Road in Lakeport resulting in the death of two occupants and two other occupants suffering major injuries.

As of 8:45 p.m., Highway 29 northbound is shut down for recovery. An air ambulance was requested to the scene but was unable to respond due to weather.

The CalTrans Quickmap indicates Highway 29 traffic is stopped as first responders address the incident.

Initial reports indicated one of the vehicle occupants was trapped and another ejected. The CHP Log indicated one of the occupants was a pregnant woman. 

Our hearts go out to those lost and their families.

UPDATE 9:17 p.m.: All patients associated with this incident have been transported from the scene to area hospitals.
