The United States Geological Survey indicates that a 3.4 magnitude earthquake shook Round Valley in Northeast Mendocino at approximately 12:03 p.m. today.

On the USGS’s “Did You Feel It” Scale, the earthquake is considered a “IV” meaning no damage was reported and the shaking was “light.”

The quake’s epicenter is reported to be in the Northeast portion of Round Valley near East Lane.

Round Valley Facebook groups indicate many residents felt the quake.

Today’s Covelo temblor comes a day after a 6.2 magnitude quake struck the North Coast, its epicenter off Cape Mendocino in the Pacific Ocean. The quake caused damage throughout Humboldt County, and its effects were felt in Mendocino County but no damage was reported. It’s worth noting a cluster of aftershocks have rumbled near the epicenter of yesterday’s quake.
