Man Carjacked at Gunpoint in Covelo Today and Law Enforcement Is on the Lookout for the Suspect

Categories:

A Be On the Lookout Bulletin just broadcasted to Mendocino County law enforcement indicates there is an active search for a carjacking suspect who reportedly held the victim at gunpoint earlier today in Covelo and subsequently fled.

The bulletin indicated that around 11:00 a.m. the suspect was in the area of the Covelo Cemetery when a black 2015 Chevrolet Camaro approached with multiple subjects within. The suspect, described as a Native American adult with a cursive lettering tattoo near his eyebrows, reportedly brandished a firearm and proceeded to take the victim’s vehicle.

The stolen vehicle was described as a lifted, black Dodge truck with red rims. The suspect entered the truck, drove away, and the black Camaro followed.

If you have any information about these circumstances, contact the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office at (707)234-2100 or the WeTip anonymous crime reporting hotline (800-782-7463).

  1. Could the camaro possibly have been spray painted? Or could the tattoo have been something else like a shape instead of cursive? Sounds similar to a case in lake county.
