A single motorcycle traffic collision on State Route 1 between Inglenook and Newport has proven fatal after the driver succumbed to their injuries.
Originally reported at 1:11 p.m, scanner traffic indicated the incident resulted in an air ambulance being called to the scene. Despite CPR being administered to the patient, the rider passed away due to their injuries. The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office has been called to the scene for what the dispatcher described as a “confirmed coroner’s case”.
Traffic controls are in place as a result of the collision and the Caltrans Quickmap indicates traffic is congested in both the north and southbound lanes of State Route 1.

It’s not Newport, it’s westport
Sincere condolences for the rider and his family/friends.
A fellow riding buddy went by just after they opened up the road again, from what he saw it appears the motorcyclist was heading North going very fast along the straight section after crossing the Ten Mile River bridge.
I’m guessing he wasn’t a local and didn’t know about the sharp left corner at the end which is posted for 25mph that drops steeply down to Seaside Beach, and he overcooked the turn.
The skid mark my buddy saw was very long, ending at the guardrail where the guy impacted.
My friend said it looked like a big white sport type bike.
So sad.
This is such a tradgedy… I personally knew & loved this young man. He was a wonderfully sweet, hardworking, enterprising, and very loved son, brother, nephew, grandson, and Friend to almost everyone he met… Please, friends who ride motorcycles; PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL & think of the pain you leave behind if you lose control & crash…
