Yesterday afternoon, a head-on collision on State Route 20 near Scotts Valley Road resulted in the tragic death of an unidentified Lakeport man and left a Ukiah woman with major injuries, according to a press release from the California Highway Patrol Clear Lake Office.
The press release indicates 38-year-old Ukiah woman Jennifer Peters and her passenger, 37-year-old Redwood Valley man Ronald Hoel Jr., were driving a 2005 Acura TSX westbound on SR-20 when they crossed over the double yellow line colliding head-on with the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by an unidentified 48-year-old Lakeport man traveling eastbound.
The head-on collision resulted in Peters suffering major injuries, Hoel Jr. experiencing minor injuries, and the unidentified Lakeport man being declared deceased.
All involved parties were wearing seatbelts. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the cause of the crash.
The collision caused an extended closure of the primary artery between Mendocino and Lake County disrupting the commute of many as first responders tended to the wounded and investigators analyzed the scene.
Is this a vehicle manslaughter case….
Might have been an attempted vehicle pass, I’ve seen some close calls on 20…Poor guy driving along ends up dead, after someone hits him head on.
