Scanner traffic beginning around 7:15 p.m. indicates a two-vehicle traffic accident on Highway 101 near Leggett has resulted in multiple injuries and possible amputation.
The Incident Commander reports one vehicle is off of the road on its top and one vehicle came to rest in the roadway blocking both lanes. In the overturned vehicle, there is reportedly one patient requiring extrication and a minor female with a partial amputation to the right leg.
The exact location of the incident was described at mile marker 95.7.
Air and ground ambulances have been dispatched to the incident. The air ambulance will be landing near the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 101.
UPDATE 7:31 p.m.: The Incident Commander is requesting a second air ambulance respond to the scene.
UPDATE 7:45 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported both all patients have been extricated from the vehicle and they are working on “packaging” them for transport.
UPDATE 7:54 p.m.: Traffic north of Leggett in the Riverdale area is at a standstill.
UPDATE 7:57 p.m.: Reach is headed to Redding with one patient. Another patient is being taken by ground ambulance and a third patient is still being prepared for transport.
