[UPDATE: Roadway Opened]State Route 20 Closed Near Upper Lake After Head-On Collision Leaves One Dead and Two With Major Injuries

A head-on collision near Upper Lake between a semi-truck and gray pickup has resulted in one fatality and patients suffering major injuries.

Originally reported around 4:45 p.m., the collision occurred near the intersection of State Route 20 and State Route 29 in Lake County. Multiple patients were initially trapped in the vehicles and over the last hour first responders have successfully extricated them.

The Caltrans Quickmap indicates State Route 20 is currently closed in the area of the collision as an accident investigation is conducted.


UPDATE 6:32 p.m.: The following information was published by Caltrans District 1 regarding the closure of State Route 20 as first responders investigate the collision:

Full closure of Route 20 in Upper Lake in Lake County for traffic incident investigation. Detour eastbound at Scotts Valley Rd. and westbound at Route 29. Expected to open at 8:30 p.m. We'll update this post with changes. Check Quickmap.dot.ca.gov for the most current info.

UPDATE 8:29 p.m.: The Caltrans Quickmap indicates State Route 20 has reopened.
