The following is a press release issued by the Fort Bragg Police Department:
The Fort Bragg Police Department would like to announce the annual Lighted Truck Parade
will be occurring on Saturday, December 3, 2022 starting at 6:30 PM. During this event,
Main Street and Franklin Street will be closed to motorists from Pine Street to Madrone
Street starting at 6:00 PM and opening when the parade concludes at approximately 8:00
PM. Motorists are encouraged to drive cautiously as new roadway signs and closures are
posted temporary for this event. Motorists will be diverted to either E. Fir Street (north side
of City) or Madrone Street (south side of City) eastbound to McPherson Street. Please be
aware that there will be intersections along the detour route that have temporary stop signs erected. Businesses located in the downtown district will not be reachable by vehicle.
Parking restrictions will be in effect in the downtown district prior to and following the
parade until pedestrian traffic clears the area.
The Fort Bragg Police Department would like to express their gratitude to the Skunk Train
and the Fort Bragg Unified School District for assisting with the road closures this year. In
the past, the Fort Bragg Police Department had to utilize their entire staff to assist in road
closures. This year hard road closures will be used on Main Street by means of a train and
two school buses, eliminating the need for paid personnel to be present. This will create a
large personnel cost savings to the City as well as a much safer parade route with hard
closures.
Community members should be aware the weather forecasts show rain for the day of the
event. Motorists are encouraged to reduce their speed when driving in the detour route
because of the increased pedestrian traffic and lowered visibility from the nighttime hours.
The parade may be cancelled due to rain. Cancellation will be announced at 2:00 PM on
Saturday on the City’s social media pages and via radio stations.
