Covelo’s Round Valley Indian Health Center is on fire this evening and firefighters on the scene are calling for mutual aid from nearby agencies as crews enter the structure to attack the flames
Initially called out around 7:35 p.m., scanner traffic indicates the Covelo Fire Chief is on the scene at 24065 Biggar Lane accompanied by a CAL FIRE Engine.
There have been three requests by the Incident Commander now for more manpower to fight the flames.
UPDATE 8:14 p.m.: We are getting reports that the fire was essentially sequestered to the attic and has been brought under control.
That has not been confirmed via scanner traffic, but by the information offered to our source from a firefighter at the scene.
