Woman Arrested for Murder Accused of Stabbing a Lake County Man to Death

The following is a press release issued by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

On May 16th, 2023, at approximately 4:40 A.M. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a person had been stabbed on Red Feather Ln, Lakeport Ca. Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area and located Christopher Aaron Burrows lying on the ground with a stab wound.  Deputies immediately began life saving measures until the arrival of paramedics. Christopher Aaron Burrows ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Deputies secured the scene and requested the assistance of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit.   

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded and assumed the investigation.  After conducting a lengthy investigation, several interviews and review of surrounding video surveillance, Melinda Fred age 39, was questioned and later arrested for murder. Fred was booked into the Lake County Correctional Facility for violation of 187(A) PC Murder: First Degree and 245(A)(1) PC Assault w/deadly weapon: not firearm.

  1. A quick google shows Melinda Fred of Lakeport is also Melinda Mccloud, prep cook at Konocti Vista Casino.
    But these days, who knows what’s really true.
