THE HOG FARM HIDEAWAY begins on Friday, June 9th and is expected to draw thousands of attendees into the county to take part in the second year of this fun new festival. Tickets are still available for this family friendly event that will run from June 9-11 and take place at the Black Oak Ranch in Laytonville. The festival features three stages of music and performances by 30+ incredibly talented bands including The String Cheese Incident, Railroad Earth, Leftover Salmon, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Papadosio, Keller Williams, Dirtwire, The Motet, Rainbow Girls, and many more.
In addition to the great music, festival-goers will also enjoy interactive art installations, an eclectic assortment of craft and food vendors, adult libations, activities for kids, an activist area where non-profit organizations will showcase their work, a healing sanctuary with yoga and various modalities to restore wellbeing, and more.
With around 4,000 expected attendees, the festival is one of the largest music-focused events in Mendocino County. The Mendocino Tourism Bureau estimates that the festival will bring in hundreds of thousands of tourism dollars to the region. The event is presented by Shooting Star Events, an independent, women-owned production company.
Festival co-producer and Mendocino County native, Biasha Mitchell, shared, “We are thrilled to bring this intimate and exciting three-day, family-friendly festival experience to Black Oak Ranch and bring visitors from all over the country to discover beautiful Mendocino County. We are grateful for the support of the local community and happy to be able to give back to local causes and organizations.”
A portion of the proceeds from the festival will support the Trees Foundation, whose work protects the forests, rivers, and wildlife of California’s North Coast. In addition, a portion of proceeds from festival VIP passes will support the Scholarship Fund for Laytonville’s Camp Winnarainbow, a vibrant circus and performing arts camp founded by the legendary Hog Farm collective residents Wavy Gravy and his wife Jahanara Romney. The Scholarship Fund supports children from diverse backgrounds to be able to attend this unique camp where they can experience a multitude of activities.
Black Oak Ranch, where the event will take place, has been hosting festivals for more than 30 years in Mendocino County, bringing visitors from around the globe to the region. The Ranch provides a majestic and intimate space for the festival experience. Set in beautiful oak woodlands and meadows, the ranch is a perfect location to gather with friends and family. Ten Mile Creek runs through the festival campground with swimming holes for everyone to enjoy. Black Oak Ranch is home to The Hog Farm, one of the oldest, continuously running communes in the United States.
