[UPDATE: Forward Progress Stopped ]Wildfire Ignites in Lakeport—Structure On Fire with Reports of Occupants Trapped Inside

A wildfire has flared in up Lakeport this afternoon prompting a full wildland response including ground and air resources.

Firefighters are working to gain access to a burning structure with two occupants reportedly trapped inside near the intersection of Highland Springs Road and Rodello Road.

Authorities have initiated a hard closure of Highland Springs Road as they fight the flames.

Scanner traffic originally broadcasted around 3:12 p.m. asked for a full wildland response. Air and Ground Incident Commanders have estimated the fire to be 8 acres in size, burning in the grass.


UPDATE 3:42 p.m.: An RV near a structure is also on fire, according to reports from firefighters at the scene. However, firefighters are getting a handle on this and some resources including all tankers and a dozer have been released.

A outbuilding is reported to be burning now. Cal Fire’s LNU Unit tweeted 11 minutes ago, “CAL FIRE LNU & local agencies are at a vegetation fire near Highland Springs Road & Rodello Road, west of Kelseyville. The fire is approximately 8 acres in grass with a west wind on it and one structure is involved.”

UPDATE 3:43 p.m.: The Incident Commander reporting the forward progress of the fire has stopped. Firefighters are still working to extinguish the burning RV. The status of the occupants in the home remains unknown.
