[UPDATE: Fatality]Man Reportedly Shot in the Chest After Alleged Trespassing Incident in Redwood Valley

Reports out of Redwood Valley this evening indicate a possible trespassing incident resulted in a property owner shooting an alleged trespasser. The suspected shooter is detained and the victim is reportedly not breathing.

Scanner traffic beginning around 7:51 p.m. indicated that a victim was reportedly shot in the chest at the 2000 block of Richards Road which prompted law enforcement and emergency personnel to respond Code 3 (with lights and sirens to the location).

Scanner traffic suggests the reporting party was the shooter. Dispatchers gave the reporting party explicit instructions about securing the firearm.


UPDATE 8:12 p.m.: Emergency personnel are reporting the gunshot victim has three gun shots in the chest and does not appear to be breathing or have a pulse. CPR is in progress.


UPDATE 8:23 p.m.: Personnel on scene confirmed the patient has passed away as a result of the gunshot wounds.
