On September 12, 2023, at approximately 1908 hours, Clear Lake unit 7-61, Officer Erickson, ID 19200, received a call of a crash involving a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a 2020 Dodge 5500 truck on State Route 20 (SR-20) east of Rosemont Dr.  Upon arrival, officers located both vehicles partially in the eastbound lane, and partially on the south shoulder.  Initial indications are that party #1 traveling westbound on SR-20 at an unknown speed, crossed over the solid double yellow lines into the eastbound lane where it collided head-on with the 2020 Dodge 5500 truck traveling eastbound on SR-20.  As a result of the crash, party #1, a 43-year-old male from Willits, sustained fatal injuries. Party #1 was pronounced deceased on scene by medical personnel.  Party #2 and his passenger (Tirri) were not injured in the crash. Party #1’s name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

Clear Lake Area Sergeant, Joel Skeen, responded to the scene and assumed incident command. Officer Erickson will be handling the investigation.

  1. I was traveling eastbound on 20 about 7:30 pm when a motorcycle crossed the double yellow lines to pass our vehicle. I’m very sad he was later killed because he lacked caution for the law.
