A lumber truck overturned yesterday evening, October 26, 2023, near Ukiah littering Highway 101 with lengths of wood and requiring a temporary shutdown of southbound lanes.
A review of scanner traffic around 10:30 p.m. indicated the semi overturned near the intersection of Highway 101 and Ukiah’s North State Street spilling lumber across the roadway. Thankfully, no injuries resulted from the accident.
For a short time after the collision, traffic was redirected as crews cleared the lanes allowing through traffic.
A Facebook post from the Caltrans District 1 Facebook page showed crews still clearing lumber this morning.
Looked crazy from the north lane. Passed right after emergency crews arrived. Glad the driver wasn’t injured.
just my opinion and a bit off topic, the onramp off of North State Street going north has got to be one of the worst in my 55 years of driving experience, which includes a variety of counties, cities, locations up and down Ca. Tight blind curve, short merge (shortest I’ve even experienced) giving -0- possibility to merge with the flow of traffic let alone see what’s coming. Very dangerous ..
The death exit
Story says 10:30 p.m.? How come it’s daylight ?
Because it happened at 10:30pm. And the article read crew still picking up lumber this morning. That is the next morning.
And in approximately 10 men (Caltrans workers)and almost 12 hrs to pick all that lumber up….WTH
