A dramatic rescue is underway this evening in Mendocino, where three people were initially trapped on a beach, pinned against a cliff by the rising tide.
Two of the trapped individuals have successfully ascended the cliff. However, a fifteen-year-old male remains stranded on the beach. Emergency crews are now deploying water rescue assets to extricate the teenager, who is at risk due to the rising waters.
Scanner traffic indicates the beach is located near the 1100 block of Lansing Street below the Sea Rock Inn.
According to the initial report around 7:17 p.m., the group attempted to climb up the cliff to escape the incoming tide.
The Incident Commander confirmed no parties were injured declining both ground and air ambulances.
UPDATE 8:05 p.m.: Rescue personnel on jet skis successfully saved the teen from the beach

People who go out into the wild unprepared expect others to risk their lives t save them.
True that F and B.
It happens all too often at a great expense and like you said puts the first responders at risk.
The article was unclear about the age of the other two people involved.
If they were adults and or guardians that in my way of thinking raises even more serious concerns in regards that they left the kid behind to fend for himself.
They should be spanked hard for doing so and it appears that the old expression every man (or woman) for themself holds true.
Those sneaker waves can appear out of no where. Always best to know the tide table & exit beach ahead of schedule. Glad he had friends to help him get safely rescued.
