Law enforcement discovered a homicide today in the 52000 block of Blue Lake Rd., a remote area northwest of Willits. According to initial reports from scanner communications, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) and California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the scene after a call for help came in about 11:23 a.m.

The incident began with reports of a male suspect wielding an axe, killing chickens at another residence on Blue Lake Road. As law enforcement responded, the suspect fled into a residence where he barricaded himself. They successfully took him into custody fairly quickly though.

Upon clearing the home, law enforcement discovered a female victim, initially reported as possibly deceased and also as a homicide. Medical personnel were urgently summoned to the scene, and lifesaving efforts including CPR were initiated by authorities which temporarily revived the victim. A medevac helicopter was dispatched.

However, despite these efforts, the victim’s condition tragically deteriorated, and she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Details regarding the exact nature of the injuries sustained by the victim have not yet been disclosed, and it remains unclear whether the axe allegedly wielded by the suspect played a role in the incident. The identity of the victim has not been released.

Law enforcement is investigating and details beyond what we’ve reported are not available. It is important to remember in breaking news:

  1. I Just want to put out there. That as a neighbor we have been trying for years for the sheriff to stop this lunatic. Calls about him threatening to harm and burn out many of his neighbors went unanswered. He burnt down a cabin New Year’s Eve 2019. And they let him get away with it. I have witnessed the result of four rollover auto accidents he’s had on our dirt roads from driving to fast. The sheriffs always claimed they couldn’t do anything because we did not have video. Sorry state.
Well pray for the victim “Roberta” she made the ultimate sacrifice for us all.

    • Dave. Interesting that our so called officials are now suggesting we report any aberrant behavior and when we do, as you did, they either ignore it or dismiss it. Phil Blue Lake Road

  2. I wanted to make an addition. It seems I forgot to let everyone know who this was that was arrested. I don’t know if it’s my place to name names. But. His little brother was the one found guilty of killing that woman at the Brooktrails Market some years back. Just to let you know.

  3. This guy is not all around bad guy , He has mental issues that he trys to get help for and tries his best to be a good person . That dose not excuse what happen . I was told that he had been helping that neighbor for the last couple of months around her house with little things. Maybe he had a mental barke down and this was not internal and he need to be put somewhere to to get mental help. He plays with my sons and he is great with them . still it is all sad what has happened and i am not trying to make excuses . but i have watch him try and turn his life aroud for the last 6 years and do better . with not much supost or programs to help him without out him having to jump though there hoops and paperwork he dose not understand .

    • You must be kidding, he just killed an old women that was trying to help him, with an axe, and left her dead and naked on the floor while he watched tv!!!!…for decades he’s been terrorizing the community of spring creek.
That you were his friend and let him play with your children says a lot about you….he has always been an evil, disgusting, despicable human being!!!..
You really need to check yourself, he got away with way too much over the years, law enforcement and mental health needs to be accountable for this womens death….as well as family and friends, who knew this would be the outcome one day….

      • Who knew this would be the outcome? I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often considering the type of “help”mendo county offers the mentally ill. That woman who was murdered probably knew that just like I do and tried to do what she could. That woman died a hero if that’s the case, she was trying to help him. Check yourself Kyra

        • You have no idea what your talking about pop, did you know michael coleman, I did, for 30 yrs…he did get help many many times, but they let him out with pills and he went off them..he knew he had a problem, but liked to terrorize ppl, do drugs, drink until he was threatening ppl, running his many cars off the rd, ect….he was running a show , where there were no consequences….he also knew how to work the system to his benefit…so unless you knew him or had to deal with him for 30 yrs, you’re opinion is trash…
I do agree, Roberta was a nice lady, who thought she was still dealing with the child she knew from yrs ago…he wasn’t and was missing the gene that makes you have empathy and compassion for ppl, and not see them as prey…his brother was also missing that gene, another words, they were and are evil ppl.
