A man has been detained after allegedly shooting another man, who later died from his injuries, on Eureka Hill Road in Point Arena this evening, Thursday, July 11, 2024.

Scanner traffic indicated the incident was reported at 8:07 p.m. when the reporting party, who was later detained, called authorities to state they had shot someone in the stomach.

The suspect, who was wearing a vest and blue Levi’s, informed law enforcement that they had hidden the firearm and would disclose its location upon their arrival.

The victim, a white male adult wearing a T-shirt and sweats, was in a different part of the property. Initial reports indicated the victim was on the phone at 8:52 p.m., shortly before law enforcement arrived on the scene at 8:54 p.m.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were dispatched and law enforcement officers arrived approximately six minutes after being notified.

At 8:57 p.m., the suspect was detained, and authorities proceeded to assist the victim. Despite their efforts, the victim succumbed to the gunshot wound.
