On August 28, 2020 at approximately 12:39 AM, Officers were dispatched to the area of 700 S. Orchard Avenue for several 911 calls reporting one gun shot heard in the area. One of the reporting parties advised a male (victim) was hiding in the back yard of their residence and stated that he had been shot.

Upon arrival, Officers located the victim and quickly learned that he had not been shot, but rather shot at by one of three males who had been in the area. The victim stated that the three males called out to him, from across the street, as he was walking and inquired if he was involved in a criminal street gang. The victim advised shortly after this inquiry, one of the males fired a gun at him. UPD Officers, as well as MCSO and CHP personnel began searching the area in an attempt to locate the involved parties and any evidence of the shooting.

Officers are continuing to investigate this incident and urge anyone with information to contact the UPD. The UPD would like to thank MCSO and CHP for their assistance with this investigation.

As always, our mission at UPD is simple: to make Ukiah as safe a place as possible. If you would like to know more about crime in your neighborhood, you can sign up for telephone, cellphone and email notifications by clicking the Nixle button on our website; http://www.ukiahpolice.com .
