During this challenging economic time, Mendocino National Forest is providing free-use permits for personal firewood until December 31, 2020.
Go here to download the “Firewood Permit”, print it out, then mail it to one of the ranger stations listed on the form. Applicants will then receive a firewood permit and map via snail mail.

Mendocino National Forest is providing free-use permits for personal use fuelwood until December 31, 2020. If you were unable to purchase a permit prior to our offices closing, you may obtain a free use permit and go and cut what you need for your family during this challenging time. All firewood cutting rules remain in place.
