According to a Covelo resident, the Covelo Fire Department and CalFire are on scene extinguishing a car fire on Crawford Lane south of the dump on private property..
A blue VW Jetta is pictured emitting a significant amount of smoke. The Covelo resident on scene said the fire did not spread into nearby vegetation.
Information on the incident is based on the observations and photographs of the contributing Covelo resident. There is currently no entry on the CHP Garberville Traffic Incident Information page due to the fact the fire is on private property which according to the dispatcher is not handled by CHP.
As of 1:12 p.m., the scanner indicated the fire was extinguished.
