[UPDATE: Reopened] Highway 20 is Closed Both Ways After Major Injury Collision Midway between Lucerne and Glenhaven

Highway 20 is closed in both directions after a head on collision occured at between a blue Ford Focus and a gray Ford Escape. The collision occurred about midway between Lucerne and Glenhaven

According to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page, the crash involved an older white, male, adult driver and the vehicles are taking up both lanes. The CHP Traffic Incident Page is characterizing the collision as involving a “major injury” and says “one party is unresponsive.”

The California Highway Patrol issued the following statement:

ROADWAY CLOSED NEAR MM 21.07 ON
HIGHWAY 20 IN BOTH DIRECTIONS DUE TO A

MAJOR INJURY ACCIDENT

PLEASE USE ALTERNATE ROUTES OF
TRAVEL AND USE CAUTION IF IN THE AREA

UPDATE 6:24 p.m.

According to a conversation with Clear Lake CHP dispatch, Highway 20 is open to one-way traffic after first responders opened up the east bound lane. The CHP Traffic Incident Information page entry for this incident has been cleared which is usually indicates an 11-44 occurred (deceased individual).

UPDATE 6:51 p.m.

Highway 20 has reopened, according to the following statement issued by CHP:

*** ROADWAY IS NOW OPEN ***

PLEASE CONTINUE TO USE CAUTION WHEN

TRAVELLING THRU THE AREA
