Police Investigating After Gunshot Victim and Perpetrator Flee Scene of Ukiah Shooting

Categories:

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, a shooting occurred in the parking lot of Ukiah’s Safeway grocery store at 653 S State Street. The shooting resulted in both the victim and perpetrator fleeing the scene, according to Ukiah Police Department’s Detective Sergeant Rick Pintane.

Detective Pintane said law enforcement was able to locate the gunshot victim on Wednesday evening in Ukiah. The victim is a 26-year-old male from Ukiah who suffered “non-life-threatening injuries” from the shooting.

Law enforcement has been unable to locate the suspected shooter, added Detective Pintane

Detective Pintane characterized the circumstances of the shooting as “under investigation.” Investigating officers contacted witnesses of the event, Detective Pintane said, and scanner traffic indicated surveillance footage of the parties fleeing the area was obtained from a nearby business.

Detective Pintane asked that if any members of the public witnessed the shooting or have knowledge of those involved to contact the Ukiah Police Department at (707) 463-6242.
