Man Detained After Reportedly Pouring Gasoline on Hay Bales and Lighting Them on Fire Southeast of Ukiah

As per the scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page, fire and law enforcement personnel are responding to an incident involving a subject “pouring gas on bales of hay, lighting them on fire, and then throwing them into the roadway.” The incident is located on Old River Road, south of the Mendocino County Office of Education. The suspect has been detained.

Scanner traffic indicates a large amount of fire resources have been released from the incident and the suspect is considered “5150,” meaning a danger to himself, others, or property. The individual involved was reportedly driving a green, older model pickup.

  1. Please find this on-the-loose lunatic. The season is already three to four weeks out of synch. Very early. My area is as dry as if it’s the first week of July and it’s just May 27. Clearly something is not right with the natural order much less the state of the human psyche. My spring is about to dry up. It usually goes til mid August. Most fires are arson caused. There are so many angry mentally crazed people out there willing to burn down their source of frustrations.

    5150 means “mentally unstable”

    Read your police scriptures and learn the codes.

  3. Who cares about codes, lock these people up, for good. certain areas of the county you cannot get fire ins. Its not societies fault that this guys cheese slipped off the cracker.
