The following is a press release issued by the California Highway Patrol:

On 07/01/21, at approximately 2338 hours, Ukiah CHP responded to a solo vehicle collision, located on SR-1 north of Nameless Lane. During the investigation it was determined, Party-1 was driving a White 2017 Honda Accord northbound on SR-1, at approximately 100 MPH. Due to Party-1’s high rate of speed, Party-1 allowed the Honda Accord to cross the east solid white line of SR-1, and onto the dirt/grass shoulder of SR-1. As a result, the front of the Honda Accord collided with a tree. Party-1 sustained fatal injuries. Party-1 was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. At this time, it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs are a factor in this collision. The cause of this collision is still under investigation.

The identity of the involved party is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
