Authorities Investigating After Man Found Deceased Behind Ukiah’s Ross Dress for Less

Categories:

Ukiah Police Department officers and medical personnel are currently behind Ukiah’s Ross Dress for Less after locating a deceased man.

At approximately 9:10 p.m., the dispatcher requested officers check out the area behind Big 5 Sporting Goods at Ukiah’s Pear Tree Center for a possible deceased man. The dispatcher said the party who reported the possible deceased man was someone in the Ukiah Adventist Health Emergency Room. This reporting party told dispatch the dead man was located near a dumpster behind the business.

At 9:14 p.m., a Ukiah Police Department officer reported being on the scene and by 9:17 p.m. requested medical personnel respond to the location.

At 9:28 p.m., medical personnel confirmed the individual was deceased and canceled incoming fire units.

At 9:44 p.m., a coroner’s report was referenced by Ukiah Police Department officers on scene and confirmed that next-of-kin had been notified.

Considering the hour, we will reach out to Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office tomorrow morning regarding the initial investigation that will likely be conducted by a coroner with their agency.

  1. Matt, if next of kin has been notified, can you give us a name? Or is that priveledged info due to an ongoing investigation? Many of us care about and are interested in knowing when one of our street people die, if in fact any of my assumptions about the deceased are correct. Frequently, in our county people die and the public is kept in the dark concerning their identity. Furthermore, they are not included in any public obituary forum, which I find disheartening.
